Beautiful Florida

A few highlights from the Florida trip!  The #1 highlight was the weather.  What a beautiful week it was . . . 80s every day and barely a cloud in the sky!  Just what we needed to escape from gloomy Minnesota.

Thanks to my parents for providing us with some much needed time in the sun and outside of our cold, stuffy house.  The kids were so excited to play in outside again after 6 months of being inside and Marco Island was the perfect place to do just that.

Here are some of the other highlights:

"Feeding" the fish off the dock at the back of the house my parents rented for us.  Unfortunately, the fish didn't seem to like whole wheat bread very much.

Swimming!

Alligator hunting!

Don't worry, it wasn't a live one!

These were the live ones.  Hard to believe that they can be so fast when they're hungry.  All they do is lie around!

Daddy's girl.

We loved the beach!  Reagan loved digging for treasure (seashells).

Dylan loved his "Chu-ble" (Shovel) and barely let go all week.

We found a starfish that washed in with the waves.

That's as deep as I go.

And our new favorite sport (?), Gecko Hunting!  And Dylan's new favorite word - he always asks us to draw Gecko's now (along with hearts and stars and puppies).

Holding our gecko friend before his release back into the wild.  As is typical with our kids, Reagan had no fear holding the gecko next to her.  Dylan, on the other hand, was a lot more unsure.

A few of the lowlights of the week:  3 allergic reactions, none of them on the plane which was my biggest fear.  Dylan had two reactions to hot dogs.  One landed us at urgent care. We later determined his reaction was due to a strong allergy to mustard (who knew?).  D had his other reaction at the Twins spring training game with all of the peanut dust floating around the stadium.  That experience reaffirmed what we were feared all along and unfortunately, at this point, we feel it is just too risky to bring our kids to Twins games with their peanut allergies.  We'll have to stick to the Little League games!
