Nukie Fairy

After stalling for months on getting rid of the Nuks in our house, my deadline was quickly approaching (Dylan's 2 year doctor appointment).  While some parents dread letting their kids cry it out, or give up a bottle or sleep in a big kid bed, John and I were terrified of getting rid of the Nuks.

We didn't think Dylan would have too big of a problem, but Reagan needed at minimum two Nuks in her bed every night, one for her mouth and one for her eye.  I knew it was time though when her own mom started to think she looked ridiculous with a Nuk in her mouth.

We'd been talking about the Nukie Fairy for months to prepare Reagan for the big day. Finally last week I asked her when she thought the Nukie Fairy should come and she said "Tomorrow" quite matter of factly. So we went with it!

I asked Reagan what she wanted to put her Nukies in and she said a Pull-Up.  That proved to be a bit of a challenge because they kept falling out the leg holes.

We went with a bucket instead and Reagan wrote a little note to the Nukie Fairy.

The Nukie Fairy left Reagan and Dylan a nice note and explained to Reagan why she was unable to deliver the Merry Go Round Reagan had asked for from the Nukie Fairy.

Bye-Bye, Nukies!

She was quite happy with the small Rapunzel doll she received instead.

In the days since Reagan has been mostly okay.  Dylan who didn't really understand what was going on has been missing his Nukies more which surprised us since he usually spits them out without argument.  Luckily the garbage man took the trash away the next day and there was no looking back!

Valleyfair

John's company had their annual picnic at Valleyfair this year.  I was a little apprehensive how much the kids would be able to do, but I was pleasantly surprised that Planet Snoopy was perfect for them.

The first thing Reagan wanted to go on was Wild Thing and Steel Venom the moment she saw them from the car.  Even explaining to her that she wasn't tall enough didn't discourage her.

This was how Dylan spent the first hour at Valleyfair.  I was glad since we arrived there right in the middle of naptime.

The merry go round was by far Reagan and Dylan's favorite ride.   I think we went on at least 8 times.

Reagan with Snoopy!

This was the first ride I was a little iffy with Reagan going on.  I thought she might get scared when it started going, but she came off with a huge smile on her face.

When Dylan finally woke up, we put him right on the train with Reagan.  We thought he would like it, but I should have known with how hard it is for him to wake up that it would take a while for him to warm up.

I went on a few of the calmer rides with Reagan.

Reagan even rode the kiddie rollercoaster multiple times while I struggled to keep my lunch down!

Riding the trucks.  Dylan had the same non-expression on his face the whole time.

Soccer Camp

Instead of spending one day a week at "camp" this summer (really just a continuation of her old preschool), I decided to find a few week-long camps for Reagan to try to see if she had any interest in activities other than gymnastics. Our first camp of the summer was soccer.

I understood why they require the kids to be 3 1/2 to sign up.  I don't think Reagan would have done as well had she been even a few months younger.

I was impressed with how well she listened to the coaches when they called "Banana!"  The kids were then to put their foot up on the ball.

Dylan joining in the fun.

Waiting for her award with her bestie, Ani.  Reagan is so excited that Ani will be joining us during all the camps this summer.

High five for a fun week, Reagan!  She had so much fun we're doing it again in August!
