Here's Reagan and I at her first doctor's appointment. We had a homecare nurse come on Friday after we got home from the hospital and Reagan had lost 10% of her birth weight. The pediatrician wanted us to come in and have her weight checked on Saturday. She was down to 5 lbs, 13 oz so we needed to begin supplementing with formula. The practitioner that we saw also thought Reagan looked a little jaundice, so it was back to North Memorial to have a heel prick test. We were instructed to continue coming back to the pediatrician until Reagan had put on more weight. Luckily when we went back on Sunday, she was back to her hospital discharge weight. On Monday, though, she had her 1 week checkup, so that was three days in a row at the pediatrician. Reagan and I went in again yesterday for a weight check and she gained 6 oz more, so we're doing well! Tuesday, November 27, 2007
I'm So Sick of the Doctor

It's amazing how much bigger she looks in these bottom two pictures than the top one. She really has grown in the last two weeks!
My First Bath
First Day At Home

We also had a home care nurse come to check on Reagan and I. After the nurse left we made our first trip over to Grandma and Grandpa Etter's house.
After we came home, our neighbors Bryan and Kim came over straight from the airport bearing gifts from their trip to Florida.

I Love My New Family
Grandma and Grandpa McCarthy couldn't wait to meet me either!

Auntie Debbie waited for me for hours yesterday, but had to go before I could make my arrival. She came to meet me as soon as she could!
Kelly and Tracy rushed over after work to see me! "Auntie" Kelly even wanted to cancel a lunch meeting to come meet me!
Great Auntie Phyllis and Auntie Carrie loved to hold me!
"Uncle" Todd, Alexis, Jordan and Jaden showed me what life was like with brothers and sisters. Mommy and Daddy told me I need to get used to the noise!
She's Here!!!!!!!!!!
Apparently the stripping the membranes trick worked on Monday as we woke up at 3:30 AM on Tuesday to Lindsay's water breaking. After calling the doctor, final house cleaning, and taking showers, we headed to the hospital at around 5:00 AM. Lindsay was immediately admitted and strapped to a fetal monitor and a labor monitor to measure the contractions. Luckily, unbeknownst to Lindsay, she was having contractions at three minute intervals. Since it was in the form of back pain, and Lindsay's back had hurt for the past few weeks, she didn't really take note that it was in regular intervals. In order to continue to make progress, we walked around the hospital for a few hours (its amazing how many laps we did of the labor and delivery floor!)
When the doctors checked at about 9:00 we hadn't made the progress they had anticipated so they hooked Lindsay up to Pitocin - a synthetic version of the hormone that makes you have contractions. From about 9:00 until 11:00 we made great strides and labor was getting quite painful. And in came the drugs. Lindsay had an effective epidural so the remainder of the labor was relatively comfortable. But it was slow. Between 3 and 7 pm, Lindsay had stalled at being dilated at 5 cm. Talks of a C-Section began and were sounding quite certain. We asked for one more hour to see if any progress could be made. The nurse turned off the pitocin, hoping that clearing it out of Lindsay's system and then beginning again would reactivate labor. Miraculously, Lindsay had dilated to 8 cm by 8:30 and asked the nurse to come check in another hour and by 9:30 pm everything was ready, except for an exhausted Lindsay. The anesthesiologist topped off the epidural, Lindsay took a nap for an hour, and then we began pushing at 10:30 pm.

And it all culminated in Reagan's arrival at 1:07 AM on the 14th. At 6 pounds, 9 ounces, and 19 inches, she's a little one! But she has a great full head of long dark hair, dark eyes that seem to change from brown to blue (color tbd) and an amazing temprament. The 22 hours of labor were well worth it! She puts up with anyone holding her which is great because with 2 parents, 4 grandparents, and countless friends, she hasn't touched her bed yet - except to take the photograph you see here.

We came home this afternoon. Reagan has made all her benchmarks and Mom is happy and healthy too. John was able to wear a path around the hospital room with all his pacing so it was better for everyone to come home and be comfortable.
Thanks to everyone for all your support, love and visits! Come see her - she's very social - and even cuter in person.

Save the Date . . .
Also, the doctor stripped my membranes again with a lot more ferociousness than the other doctor did last week. She said if I'm not in labor by tomorrow morning then it didn't work, so could be today or Wednesday.
We'll keep you posted! Hard to believe it will actually be this week. I was okay putting it off for another day or so . . .

The Queen of Procrastination

Action shot ~ I kind of look like a beached whale on our couch. Its so squishy that I have a hard time getting off once I'm on.

One small problem with the blanket ~ It ended up kind of shaped like a trapezoid. I think when I started again last week, I wasn't quite doing it right and it ended up getting wider and wider. I figure that if it's wrapped around the baby though, no one will notice.

Close up of my creation.

One More Week (Hopefully) . . .
We used a teddy bear as our fake baby to see if the backseat mirror worked (It didn't).
John was getting a little frustrated with me because we had the car seat on the passenger side, then I asked him to try the middle seat, which had a more difficult latch that we couldn't get to. Then, I changed my mind and wanted it back on the passenger side because it felt more secure (and looked better!).

I tried to help . . .
My stomach at 39 weeks. She can't get any bigger. There's no room!
